Why I Support Ron Paul

It may surprise many that I would support Ron Paul (a republican from Texas) when our views are so extremely different. Well it’s because we don’t really differ all that much from one another. He wants to make a change, and well right now I support just about any change from the current direction the two party dictatorships. Also we agree on some things, mainly foreign policy. He wants us out of the UN, NATO, WTO, NAFTA, and all those other things, some I agree with him 100%.

I also agree with him on the war in Iraq. I use to be a strong supporter of it, but that has changed, no WMDs, and an extremely poorly ran battle plan has caused some major problems to say the least. He is right, if the government felt that it was such a great threat they should have declared war against Iraq, and only with these declarations should we ever go to war, simple because we should never go to war half-assed. If we are going to go to war we need to go to win, not for political and economical reasons.

But the main reason I am supporting him is because he wants to shrink government, something I also agree with him on. Now yes he wants to take away executive powers and do away with the patriot act, once again surprisingly to some I agree with that, we don't need the patriot act to protect ourselves, we already have the tools we needed pre-9/11, we just had an incompetent government.

Keep this in mind; Ron Paul wants a small government because he thinks government is incompetent. So it’s better to have a small incompetent government with little power, than a large corrupt and incompetent government with too much power, once again I agree 100%. But I would much rather have a small, powerful (in a way that didn’t effect the innocent people in a negative way) government that is competent, not corrupt (as much is possible anyways) and effective. That is the key difference.

Also not to mention the fact that the rest of the Repubicant's will keep us going down the same path of ruin, while the Demorats will lead us into a new America full of communism and socialism thus more than likely taking our brisk walk to doom into a full sprint. So support Ron Paul, he will stem the tide for at least four years (unless he is assassinated, sadly something that I think could be very likely), or vote for the others and brace yourself for the worse. Either way in the long run we are still more than likely screwed, but at least with Ron Paul we have a chance, and at the very least America will last a bit longer.

Remember people both parties are now big government parties and this is important, the more the government can give you, the more it can take away from you. But enough of this gloom and doom, let’s hope Ron Paul wins and serves eight years and gets this nation back on track.
